Vimeo Adds Copyright Detection

Vimeo Adds Copyright Detection

We use both YouTube and Vimeo here at Anticipate Media. But Vimeo in particular are our friends, and they offer robust privacy options that really help share and deliver content to our clients.

I was not surprised that Vimeo has announced a new copyright protection system. It's a necessary thing, really. I was however surprised that it will flag even private videos. These videos often contain temp music that will never be made public until purchased.

Theres a human review process for this. However this could take time.

Pocket Jib Traveler Edition Review

Pocket Jib Traveler Edition Review

This piece of kit I reviewed about a year ago, and since we have used it on shoots across the country as well as right in Boston. I usually put a loaded C100 or even C300 on there, which I realize is a bit silly, but the shots stabilize well in post.

This gear is an absolute must have for anyone dealing with a light (under 10lb) camera who wants dynamic jib shots easily. I mount it on a trusty Miller Solo DV tripod and take it to most shoots.

Final Cut Pro X: What I thought in 2011

Final Cut Pro X: What I thought in 2011

This is an interesting look at where I thought Final Cut Pro X and Apple's Pro market was going in 2011. Now it's 2014, and a lot has changed. There's a new Mac Pro. There's a much improved FCPX out. I am using both.

I think, conceptually, I was spot on. The software just needed to catch up, and now FCPX is a viable tool for professional editors and entry level editors alike. FCPX 10.1 is to me, where it should have been launched at however, insofar as pure pros go.

I will write about my experiences with it when I have time, but for now - as a preamble to that upcoming post - let's look back at 2011. Was I right? Did what I say come to pass?
